Computer Repairs We Don’t Recommend

Some computer repairs aren't worth doing as the cost of parts and labour along with the delay in obtaining the parts can make the repair undesirable.

Laptop Screens or Displays
This is one type of repair that should be considered carefully before undertaking. Generally they are not worth doing. The impact that typically causes a notebook screen to break is normally strong enough to break or damage other components inside the laptop.

Frequently a laptop that has its screen replaced will work for six months or so and then start to suffer intermittent problems or complete failure. Not in the display, but elsewhere in the laptop. These problems are caused by the initial impact, combined with the stress of moving or carrying the laptop. Additionally stresses on laptop components have to handle the stress of heat expansion when operating and contraction when turned off.
